METRO ARCHIVE NOTES: Metro Council Committee History The Metro Council Growth Management Committee was previously known as: Intergovernmental Relations, 1988-1990 Transportation and Planning, 1991-1993 Planning, January - December 1994 In May 1995, the Metro Council created the Land Use Planning Committee. The purpose of the committee was to review and make recommendations to the Council on policies and programs relating to Metro growth management and land use planning activities, including the Future Vision, Regional Framework Plan, local government planning coordination, urban reserves, urban growth boundary administration, transit station area planning, water resource planning and management, housing, earthquake preparedness planning, and other matters related to Metro's growth management and land use planning activities. In October 1995, the Land Use Planning Committee was renamed the Growth Management Committee. In January 2001, the Metro Council decided to incorporate the Growth Management Committee into the new Metro Council Community Planning Committee (along with the Transportation Planning Committee). The committee was created for the purpose of reviewing and making recommendations to the Council on policies and programs relating to Metro growth management and land-use planning activities (including local government planning coordination, urban reserves, growth boundary administration, transit station area planning, housing, earthquake preparedness planning and other matters related to Metro's growth management and land-use planning activities). In January 2002, the Metro Council decided to shift transportation-related issues from the Community Planning Committee by reinstating the Metro Council Transportation Committee. In January 2003, the Metro Council Community Planning Committee was disbanded (along with all Metro Council standing committees).
