METRO ARCHIVES NOTES: Metro Council Committee History The Metro Council Finance/Budget Committee was disbanded at the end of December, 1998. Beginning in January, 1999, the Metro Council decided to address finance/budget issues within the context of Metro Council Work Sessions. In January, 2000, the Metro Council decided tomove the Budget/Finance Committee from a committee of the whole to a regularly standing committee. METRO ARCHIVES NOTES: Metro Council Committee History The Metro Council Regional Facilities Committee was previously named Convention, Zoo and Visitors Facilities Committee (1989-1990). Beginning in January, 1999, the Regional Facilities Committee was incorporated into the new Metro Council Operations Committee (along with the Governmental Affairs Committee). In January, 2001, the Metro Council decided to incorporate the Metro Operations Committee into the new Metro Council Regional Facilities and Metro Operations Committee. METRO ARCHIVE NOTES: Metro Council Committee History In January 1991, the Metro Council created the Governmental Affairs Committee. In January 1995, the Metro Council disbanded the Governmental Affairs Committee, only to reinstate it in October 1995. Beginning in January, 1999, the Metro Council decided to incorporate the Governmental Affairs Committee into the new Metro Council Operations Committee (along with the Regional Facilities Committee). In January, 2001, the Metro Council decided to incorporate the Metro Operations Committee into the new Metro Council Regional Facilities and Metro Operations Committee. In January 2003, the Metro Council Regional Facilities and Metro Operations Committee was disbanded (along with all Metro Council standing committees). METRO ARCHIVE NOTES: Metro Council Committee History In 1988, the Metropolitan Services District (MSD) created the Intergovernmental Relations Committee. In January 1991, the Intergovernmental Relations Committee was renamed the Metro Council Transportation and Planning Committee. In January 1993, the Transportation and Planning Committee was renamed the Metro Council Planning Committee. In June 1995, the Metro Council renamed the Planning Committee the Metro Council Transportation Planning Committee. In January 2001, the Metro Council decided to incorporate the Transportation Planning Committee into the new Metro Council Community Planning Committee (along with the Growth Management Committee). The committee was created for the purpose of reviewing and making recommendations to the Council on policies and programs relating to Metro growth management and land-use planning activities (including local government planning coordination, urban reserves, growth boundary administration, transit station area planning, housing, earthquake preparedness planning and other matters related to Metro's growth management and land-use planning activities). In January 2002, the Metro Council decided to divide the Community Planning Committee by reinstating the Metro Council Transportation Committee. The purpose of the committee was to review and make recommendations to the Council on policies and programs relating to Metro growth management and land use planning activities, including the Future Vision, Regional Framework Plan, local government planning coordination, urban reserves, urban growth boundary administration, transit station area planning, water resource planning and management, housing, earthquake preparedness planning, and other matters related to Metro's growth management and land use planning activities. In October 1995, the Land Use Planning Committee was renamed the Growth Management Committee. In January 2001, the Metro Council decided to incorporate the Growth Management Committee into the new Metro Council Community Planning Committee (along with the Transportation Planning Committee). The committee was created for the purpose of reviewing and making recommendations to the Council on policies and programs relating to Metro growth management and land-use planning activities (including local government planning coordination, urban reserves, growth boundary administration, transit station area planning, housing, earthquake preparedness planning and other matters related to Metro's growth management and land-use planning activities). In January 2002, the Metro Council decided to shift transportation-related issues from the Community Planning Committee by reinstating the Metro Council Transportation Committee. METRO ARCHIVES NOTES: Metro Council Committee History Beginning in January 2003, Council standing committees were disbanded after the Metro Council decided to address issues within the context of Metro Council work sessions.
