GROWTH MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE REPORT
CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 98-786A, FOR THE PURPOSE OF AMENDING METRO URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARY AND THE 2040 GROWTH CONCEPT MAP IN ORDINANCE 95-625A IN THE SUNNYSIDE AREA OF CLACKAMAS COUNTY.
______________________________________________________________________
Date: November 23, 1998
Committee Action: At its November 3, 1998 meeting, the Growth Management Committee voted 3-0 to recommend Council adoption of Ordinance No. 98-786A. Voting in favor: Councilors Monroe, Morissette and Kvistad.
Council Issues/Discussion: Ordinance 98-786A, includes urban reserve areas 14 and 15. It contains approximately 677 acres, and can accommodate about 3,262 dwelling units and 939 jobs, based on Metro’s productivity analysis.
Councilor Morissette sponsored an amendment to add approximately 54 acres to this ordinance on behalf of property owners Eraker and Hoffman. The addition abuts both urban reserves, and preliminary master planning indicates that this additional acreage would assist with gravity fed sewer lines. Staff recalled public hearing testimony from the City of Happy Valley supporting the inclusion of this acreage, and supporting comments from Clackamas County were also referenced. The amendment was approved.
Councilor Monroe said that he would want to be assured upon final approval of this ordinance, that this amendment and site met all 2040 considerations.
